Saturday Night Live ~ Jon Hamm
SNL, NBC television show, Saturdays
Let me just confess. I’ve been a devoted follower of SNL since I was a preteen. I started watching it during one of its golden eras. The cast included Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Chris Farley, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, David Spade, etc. SNL has since gone through some rough patches with brief shining moments (Will Farrell). I’m always pulling for the show, hoping it will be good. I imagine it’s something like being a Red Sox fan. So when there is a skit that makes me laugh so hard I cry it feels a little like Christmas.
Jon Hamm was the best host they’ve had in recent memory. He didn’t rely heavily on cue cards, has fantastic comic timing, and his characters were believable. It doesn’t hurt that he’s seriously enjoyable to look at. Especially entertaining were Jon Hamm’s John Ham, Don Draper’s Guide, and Campaign Ads. But the best skit of the night and the best they’ve had in ages (tears of joy!) was Vincent Price’s Halloween Special. GENIUS! To watch:
